Professor Sir Anthony Newman Taylor is the President’s Envoy for Health and Director of Research and Development for the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) at Imperial College. Professor Newman Taylor is a specialist in the field of the occupational causes of lung disease. He is Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Imperial College. Between 2010 and 2012, he was Principal of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial, and between 2006 and 2008 Head of the NHLI. He is Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Centre for Mesothelioma Research at Imperial College. He was Chairman of the UK Industrial Injuries Advisory Committee for 12 years. Professor Newman Taylor has worked as an advisor to government bodies in Greece, Spain and India, and was a civilian advisor in chest medicine to the Royal Air Force for over 25 years. He is Chair of the HSE Workplace Health Expert Committee and of the Independent Medical Expert Group for the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. He is Chairman of the Colt Foundation and a Trustee of the Rayne Foundation. In 2012, he received the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety Lifetime Achievement Award, and was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2008 for public service.
