Curriculum

Dario Consonni is a senior epidemiologist at the Epidemiology Unit, Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda, Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy. His main tasks involve design and analyses of occupational, environmental, and clinical epidemiology studies. He started working in the ‘80s in cohort studies in occupational and environmental epidemiology. He has been in charge of the statistical analyses of the Seveso cohort, a population living in an area contaminated by TCDD after an industrial accident in 1976. He was field epidemiologist in one of the largest case-control studies on lung cancer etiology worldwide, the EAGLE study (http://eagle.cancer.gov/). He was responsible of the design and statistical analyses of the “TFE Multicenter Mortality Study”, which involved almost 6000 workers exposed to tetra-fluoro- ethylene in six plants in Europe and USA. He is in charge of the statistical analyses of the Lombardy Mesothelioma Registry, the largest (over 10 million people covered) in Italy. Since 1997 is a teacher in the “Master in Epidemiology” of the Italian Epidemiology Association, University of Turin, Italy. Since 2000 is Professor of Statistics and of Occupational Epidemiology at the School of Occupational Medicine, University of Milan. He co-authored about 300 papers.
